
Angélica Martinez Oropeza • Class 1 Teacher
Angelica is a warm and patient Waldorf teacher who creates a comforting classroom environment in which children are able to express their creativity and explore the world around and within them. She was born in Mexico, completed her Waldorf training in Germany, and has worked in Waldorf schools in Ireland, Canada, and her native Mexico. She is fluent in Spanish, English and German, and strong in French. She has spent over 20 years in early childhood education, and this year is transitioning to her first class 1. Her interests include dance, yoga, outdoor activities, and creative writing.

Andrea Arrivillaga Hurtado • Class 2-3 Teacher & Techincal Director
Andrea is originally from Xela in Guatemala, but she has spent the past several years living at Lake Atitlán in Panajachel. Andrea has been a teacher for more than 10 years, and she worked at Esculea Caracol in 2009 as the Technical Director and as a specialty teacher. In July 2009, Andrea began her Waldorf training in Cuernavaca, México at the Centro Antroposófico. At the end of 2009, Andrea moved from Panajachel to San Marcos with her husband and 2 year-old son, Antú. Now she is beginning the journey with our integrated class of grades 2-3.

Courtney was born in Virginia, USA, and holds a BA in Sociology & Religious Studies and a MA in Art History. Courtney was the founding teacher of KinderCaracol in 2007, and left when she became pregnant with her second daughter. From 2009-2010 she served as the yoga teacher at Escuela Caracol, and in May 2010 she returned as the lead kindergarten teacher. Courtney has a natural rapport with children and a deep love for the community of San Marcos. Her hobbies include yoga, cooking and gardening. She has two daughters: Althea, age 8 and Mirabai, age 18 months.
